Shaw Streetscapes

The Shaw Main Streets Design Committee is in the process of conducting a photographic survey of every building and lot along our commercial corridors. These photographs will be assembled into photomontages of each block in our service area, and will be available online.

These streetscape montages will be used as a tool for evaluating façade improvements, building renovations, and new infill construction in our historic districts, as well as to help promote retails space available in Shaw to the types of businesses that residents have identified as their priorities.

Design Committee Co-chair Jackie Steward received an award in May 2004 from the Association for Preservation Technology, Washington, DC Chapter, for her development of this project.

The first half of the photographic survey has been completed. In 2005, when all photography is done and the montages have been assembled, they will be able to be viewed on this site.
